Outside of the United Kingdom
The decision letter on your visa application will inform you of your options for requesting a review of the decision. An “administrative review” describes this process.
If you meet all of the following criteria, you may request an administrative review:
- You reside outside of the United Kingdom.
- Applying from outside the UK
- Your request was turned down.
If you have already applied, you may request an administrative review differently:
while working as a Swiss service provider on the frontier
Request an Administrative Evaluation
You have 28 days from the date of decision receipt to request an administrative review. Pay £80 for it.
Submit your administrative review application online.
Make a choice
At this time, the administrative review process can take up to a year. The Home Office will notify you of any developments about your application if you have not heard anything after 6 months. The time it takes to complete your application will not impact your rights.
You can only ask for a second opinion if the first one uncovered additional grounds for rejection. Consider your decision letter to determine whether you are eligible for a second review.
Refuse the offer
If you submit another application for immigration or a visa, we will remove your request for an administrative review.
Requesting a review of an earlier decision after submitting a new application will result in the rejection of your request.
You have the option to withdraw your request by sending an email to the Home Office. There will be no reimbursement for your application cost.
Administrative Reviews at the Home Office
You need to provide your name, date of birth, country of origin, and Global Web Form (GWF) reference number.
Applying for a GWF is the initial step in obtaining your reference number. The Home Office will include it in any correspondence on your application, including emails and letters.
