Car

The testing site in Cardiff is in Trafalgar House on Fitzalan Place, which is east of the city centre. The northern edge of the city is crossed by the M4 motorway. The A48(M), A470, and A4232 are all routes that lead to it. The test centre is right next to the A4161.

Parking

There are a few spots for parking on Fitzalan Road, which is right next to the building door. However, we strongly suggest that you find another parking spot before you get here. Knox Road Car Park is a good choice; it’s located about 300 metres east of Trafalgar House and is easy to get to. This place lets you park for £2.95 an hour, and they accept all major credit cards.

Instead, you could go to the Capitol Shopping Centre Car Park, which is a little farther away. The parking prices are a little lower, though. A two-hour parking ticket costs £3.00 at the site, which is long enough to walk to the exam site, take the test, and then return to your car. To get to the test centre, take Station Terrace north, then turn right onto the A4161 and head east. Turn right onto Fitzalan Place (A4160) after about 150 m and head south towards the building. It will take about seven minutes to make this trip.

For more parking choices in your area, please visit the Parkopedia page for that area.

Bus

Since the test site is in the middle of everything, many bus routes go close. Should you choose to take a local bus in Cardiff, we suggest that you go to one of the following stops:

You can live in Dumfries Place, Fitzalan Place, West Grove, or Meteor Court. Each of these stops is only a five-minute walk from Trafalgar House.

If you want to plan your own trip, click on this page and scroll down until you see “bus lines.”

Train

Cardiff has two main train stations:

  • Cardiff Central and
  • Queen Street Cardiff.

The Cardiff Queen Street is less than 500m from the test centre. Travelling around South Wales and beyond is easy from Cardiff Queen Street. There are also daily services to Cardiff Central, which connects to places further away.

As mentioned above, Cardiff Queen Station is only 50m east of the Capitol Shopping Centre Car Park. For more information on how to get there, please see the “Parking” part.

Visit the Cardiff Queen Street page of the Transport for Wales website, which can be found here, for live departure and arrival times, information on station services, and information on how to get to the station.
