Car

The testing centre for Oxford is in Watlington House, which is on Watlington Road, about 5.5 km southeast of the city centre. People coming from the east can easily get to Oxford via the M40 highway, while people coming from the west can use the A40. People who live in the north or south of the city can use the A34.

Bus

Even though the test place is pretty far away, there are a lot of bus routes that go close to Watlington House. If you take this type of transportation, please try to get to one of the following bus stops, which are all about a four-minute walk from the venue:

You can find LIDL, Bullnose Morris, and Car Factory Gate.

If you want to plan your own trip, click on this page and scroll down until you see “bus lines.”

Train

Given that Oxford Train Station is on the northwest edge of the city centre, the trip to Watlington House from the station is quite long. The walking trip would take you almost an hour and a half to complete, so we suggest you use Oxford’s public bus system instead.

To get to Watlington Road, you have to take two different routes. To begin, take the 280 Sapphire (Aylesbury) bus from outside the station and get off at Speedwell Street. To keep going down St. Aldates (A420), turn south when you reach the end of the road that goes east. The Police Station bus stop will be on your left after about 50 metres. Take the 11X City (Crowley) bus to get to Car Factory Gate from here. As you go south-east on Watlington Road (B480), the building will appear on your left. It should take about 26 minutes to make this whole trip.

Due to the troublesome route from the station to the venue, we recommend that you skip the train and take the bus straight to the testing site.

Visit the Great Western Railway website for real-time information on departure and arrival times, station services, and how to get to the tracks.

Parking

Unfortunately, it will be hard to find a good place to park. There are a few parking spots on-site, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be able to find one on the day of your test. Within 1.75 km, the Templar’s Square Shopping Centre is the closest location.

If you choose to walk, the trip will take you about 25 minutes and include a long, southeasterly stretch along the B480 (Garsington Road and Watlington Road). The Templers Square bus stop is about 100 m north of the parking lot. The 11 City (Watlington) bus service can take you to the LIDL store, which is right next to Watlington House. If you take the bus instead of driving, your trip will be almost twenty minutes shorter.

The Life in the UK Test Helpline is available Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm. Call 0800 015 4245 if you need assistance with your booking.
