Preston Life in the UK Test Centre

Preston Test Centre
38-40 Ormskirk Road,
Preston,
PR1 2QP

Car

Preston’s testing site is on Ormskirk Road, which is near the A59 in the northern part of the city heart. If you are driving to Preston, please keep in mind that the M6 and M55 motorways go through the city to the east and north, respectively. There are many roads that lead to the city centre.

Parking

There are a lot of easy-to-find parking spots close to the test centre. We suggest that you use the bus station parking lot, which is right next to the event. It costs £1.60 for a two-hour parking ticket, which is more than enough time to get to the test spot, take the test, and then get back to your car. You can pay for this ticket with cash or by calling the RingGo care line. Please be aware that this spot has parking for people with disabilities and charging stations for electric vehicles.

If the bus stop is full, you might want to use Penny Street Car Park instead. This spot is only 150m north of Ormskirk Road and costs £1.50 for two hours of parking.

You can find other nearby parking lots here.

Bus

There are a number of bus lines that go by the testing site. If you want to use a local service, please go to one of these bus stops:

You can get to The Courts, Gardner Street, or the Bus Station directly. Additionally, you can walk to all of these places from Ormskirk Road in just a few minutes.

Please go to the correct “Moovit” page to plan your own trip to the test centre.

Train

People from all over the UK can use Preston Train Station. It is about a kilometre south-west of the test site to find the station. After reading this, we recommend that you walk straight to the event because taking a connecting bus will only cut your trip time by a few minutes. Also, because of the distances between the station or site and bus stops, a lot of walking would still have to be done.

From the train stop, it will take you about thirteen minutes to get to Ormskirk Road. Take the A59 north-east and go through the city centre. Then, turn right onto Lancaster Road. After going south for about 50 metres, turn left onto Ormskirk Road and head east towards the test site.

Go to the National Rail website to see live departure and arrival times, as well as details on facilities and accessibility.
