Stratford Life in the UK Test Centre

Car

Stratford is in the east end of London and is easy to get to by car or public transit. If you are going to drive to the event, you might want to use the M11 or M25 motorways. Both have direct routes into the centre of Stratford. The test site is in Boardman House, which is in the middle of Stratford and next to the Stratford Shopping Centre.

Please keep in mind that Stratford has two big shopping centres: Westfield and the one we just talked about, Stratford SC. Please make sure you don’t mix these up!

There are many places to park close to the event facility. We’ve picked out a few below.

Stratford Multi-Story Car Park

The spot is in the Stratford Shopping Centre and is open all day, every day. Here are the fees for parking in a garage:

  • It costs £2.30 an hour.
  • £4.60 for two hours
  • £5.80 for 3 hours
  • £9.20 for 4 hours

You can buy overnight (£1.20) or 24-hour (£28.80) parking tickets if you plan to stay longer in Stratford and need more time to park.

Since this place doesn’t say which forms of payment they accept, you might want to make sure you can pay with cash or a credit card. This place has parking spots for people with disabilities.

The test spot is on the other side of the shopping centre, about 650 metres away. Just walk around the western edge of the house and head towards “Broadway” road.

Westfield Stratford City Car Park

Westfield Shopping Centre uses this feature. The business is open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday. Here are some parking prices, but please keep in mind that weekend parking costs a little more than these prices:

  • £3 for an hour
  • £6 for two hours
  • After this, it costs £8 to park for up to 14 hours instead of just one.

This site only takes cards. There are places for disabled people. Additionally, this parking lot is just over 1 km from the event site. If you are going to walk, please go southeast, cross the railway tracks and turn down Great Eastern Road. Then, to get to the test spot, you have to walk around the western edge of the Stratford Shopping Centre again.

If you’d rather take the 241 Canning Town bus for this next trip, you can get on it from Montfichet Road, which is near the eastern door to Westfield Shopping Centre. I need you to get off at Stratford Broadway. The test spot is only a two-minute walk away.

If you’d like to see some other parking choices, please go to this Parkopedia page.

Bus

Naturally, a lot of bus lines go through the middle of Stratford, so there are good connections close to the test site. We’ve talked about two of the most important services, but to plan your own trip, please go to the Transport for London (TFL) website.

25: Along the route between Central London and Ilford, the number 25 goes east to west. Please get off the bus at the Stratford Centre bus stop if you want to use this service. This is right next to Boardman House across the street.

308: This service goes from Lower Clapton to Wanstead and stops in Stratford about halfway through its trip. Once more, please get off at the Stratford Centre stop.

Train

You can get around Stratford by taking the overground, the underground, or the Docklands Light Railway.

Both overground and underground trains from all over London stop at Stratford Station. The stop for its tube is where the Central and Jubilee Lines meet. Please keep in mind that this stop is right next to Stratford Shopping Centre, across the A118, and close to the above-mentioned multi-story parking garage.

Stratford International Train Station is a stop on many major train lines for people travelling from further away. For directions to the site, please see the instructions above for the Westfield Car Park. This stop is just outside the northern edge of the shopping centre.

Again, please go to the website for Transport for London (TFL). This will tell you when the trains are leaving and arriving, as well as what facilities are available at each stop.
