The Parent of a Child Student Visa is available for parents whose children already have, or are applying for, a student visa to study in the UK. If you’re from a certain country, you may need this visa to enter the UK.

What are the Financial Requirements for Parent of a Child Student Visa UK?

You are required to possess £1,560 for every month of your anticipated stay in the UK, up to a maximum of 9 months, plus £625 for every month of your anticipated stay, up to a maximum of 9 months, for any child other than the Child Student who will be in your care while in the UK, with the exceptions listed below.

Your Parent of a Child Student Visa application must be submitted no later than 31 days after the last day of possession of the funds, which must have been held for a minimum of 28 consecutive days.

If you have been in the UK for more than 12 months with permission, you will be considered to have met the financial criterion for a Parent of a Child Student Visa and will not be required to produce finances when applying for permission to stay.

If you and the child student are applying together for entry clearance or leave to remain and have both lived in the UK for less than 12 months, you will meet the financial requirement if the child student meets the financial requirement for their application.

  • Prove that you are a permanent resident of your home country.
  • Your TB test results if you live in a country that requires them.
  • Proof of financial resources.
  • An official letter of confirmation of employment. Documents provided by your employer in your home country that detail your employment, including the duration of your employment, salary, job title, and contact information for the company.
  • You must provide proof of ownership of your business if you are self-employed.
  • An employment letter allowing you to leave work and travel to the UK.
  • Proof of a third party’s financial commitment, if relevant.
  • This occurs when a UK resident pays your maintenance charges and is a relative, friend, or business. You can use the following documents:
    • The third party’s bank records.
    • The third party’s employment letter from their employer.
    • Provide evidence of income if the third person is self-employed.
    • An official letter from your school if you are a student. Full-time student status and approved leave of absence must be mentioned in the letter.
