What is a Graduate Visa UK?

The Graduate Visa UK is a post-study immigration route for international students who have finished a course of study at a UK student sponsor licensed by the Home Office institution leading to a bachelor’s degree or higher, and want to stay and work in the UK or look for work.

Visa applicants does not require employer sponsorship, minimum salary thresholds, or skill-level requirements because they can work without a sponsor.

To get hired, the Graduate route visa is appealing to both graduates and companies. It lets students get valuable work experience and try out different job paths without having to get sponsored. Businesses in the UK can tap into a large talent pool of highly educated individuals who can offer new ideas and global perspectives. The visa’s adaptability allows for both full-time and part-time work, which is beneficial to companies because it increases diversity and encourages new ideas. This road also helps graduates move on to other long-term visas, which helps the UK workforce stay stable and grow.

Successful Course Completion

In order to be eligible for a Graduate Visa, the individual must have been sponsored by a Student sponsor in the UK at least once. A Student sponsor is a higher education provider with a history of compliance at the time of application. Before applying, the person must have successfully finished the course they started while on their last Student route study permit.

Also, by the time of the application, their sponsor must have told the Home Office that they had finished the course to the required standard. If an applicant has successfully completed the qualification listed on their Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) document and their Student Visa, or if they changed their course without having to apply for more permission as a student, they may be eligible for a Graduate Visa.

Qualification Requirement

In order to be eligible for a Graduate Visa, an applicant must have earned a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or any of several professional certifications at the degree level or higher from an accredited institution in the United Kingdom. A validated law conversion course, a foundation programme in medicine or dentistry, a postgraduate certificate or diploma in education, a legal practice course for solicitors or barristers, a foundation course in any other profession qualifying someone for a job regulated by UK law, or a UK public authority are all examples of such qualifications.

An applicant may be eligible for a Graduate Visa if they hold or are expected to get a bachelor’s or master’s degree, a PhD or other doctoral qualification, a professional qualification, or any of the other qualifications listed.

Criteria for UK Education

To study in the UK on a Graduate Visa, one must first have been a student in the UK for a certain amount of time, with permission to pursue the required qualification. This means that, with the exception of approved study abroad programs, applicants must have completed the required period of study in the UK, subject to permitted study-abroad exceptions. There must have been a minimum of twelve months of study in the UK for any course that lasted longer than twelve months.

How to Apply for Graduate Visa UK?

A Graduate Visa application can be made online, but the person who wants to apply must be in the UK and have a current student visa to do so. As a graduate or as part of the Doctorate Extension Scheme, they must never have been given leave before.

A person can make an application once the approved education provider tells the Home Office that the person has finished their course properly. Applicants don’t have to wait until they finish or get their degree or postgraduate degree certificate, but they have to use their current Student Visa’s CAS number when they apply. Also, they will have to show proof of who they are, and they might have to go to a UK Visa and Citizenship Application Services (UKVCAS) service point to register their fingerprint information.

After beginning the online application process for a Graduate Visa, applicants who are eligible will receive an email inviting them to utilise the “UK Immigration ID Check” app. Users can reuse their biometric data from their Student Visa application and conduct online identity verification if they are eligible. Applicants who are not qualified, on the other hand, will have to go to a UKVCAS service point in person to finish their application.

If their application is accepted, graduates with a PhD or other advanced degree will be able to stay in the UK for three years. Applicants with a bachelor’s degree will only be able to stay for two years.

What is the Graduate Visa UK Cost?

The person who wants to get a Graduate Visa must pay a fee of £880 after applying online. Applying through the Graduate method costs the same for people with a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree, but doctoral students will get a longer visa.

After paying the Immigration Health Surcharge, the application will be able to use the UK’s National Health Service in a way that is similar to a permanent resident. These fees must be paid in full when the application is made and are due for each year of stay.

How long does it take to get a UK Graduate Visa?

A Graduate Visa is usually decided within eight weeks, depending on identity verification method to process after the applicant has submitted an online application, paid the fee, and, if necessary, had their biometric information re-enrolled. During this time, the applicant can stay in the UK until a decision is made.

There is an expected eight-week turnaround time, but it depends on whether the applicant needs to go to a UKVCAS service point to register their biometric information or can use the “UK Immigration ID Check” app instead. If you use the app, the 8 weeks will begin when the applicant’s identity has been checked online and any supporting papers have been uploaded. For those who have to go to a UKVCAS service point, the time will start from the meeting date.

If someone can stay through the Graduate route, they will usually be given an eVisa, a digital immigration status. Graduate Visa holders are granted an eVisa (digital immigration status) that they can use to enter and leave the UK. If someone with a Graduate Visa is offered a job, they will still need to show proof that they are allowed to work, even if they don’t need to be sponsored. They can do this by giving their boss a share code that lets them use the online Right to Work Checking Service to check their immigration status.

Graduate Visa Dependents

Under current rules, the main Graduate visa holder’s partner and children who depend on them may be able to apply to stay in the UK, as long as they are already there as dependants on the Student route and meet the other conditions. For a Graduate dependant visa, you need to be in a relationship and have children who depend on you. Your children must also be at a certain age and be cared for continuously.

The application fee for dependants on the Graduate path is £880, and they need to apply on their own. They’ll also have to pay extra for health care. If the application is approved, the dependent partner’s permission will end on the same date as their partner’s permission. For dependent children, the child’s permission will end on the same date as the parent’s permission.

Rights and Restrictions for UK Graduate Visa

Right to Work

People with a Graduate Visa in the UK have a lot of options when it comes to jobs. You can work no matter what level of skill you have, which means you can do things that don’t necessarily require a degree, like office work, retail, or even internships. You are not limited in the kind of work you can do, so you can try out different fields and gain a wide range of work experience. You can also work full-time or part-time, based on what works best for you and your career. This flexibility is especially helpful for new college graduates who want to start their careers and get work experience in the UK.

You can also work full-time or part-time, based on what works best for you and your career. This flexibility is especially helpful for new college graduates who want to start their careers and get work experience in the UK.

Right to Study

You can go to school and get more education while you have a Graduate Visa. However, you must ensure that your studies do not conflict with your main goal of working and do not take place at a school that requires a Student Visa. Under this rule, you can get work experience while improving your skills and abilities. For example, to improve your chances of getting a job, you could choose to take short classes, professional training, or certification programs.

Self-employment and Volunteer Work

Self-employment is also allowed with the UK Graduate Visa, so you can start your own business or work as a freelancer. This is a good choice for recent college graduates who want to start their own business or who like the freedom of independent work. Furthermore, you can do volunteer work to assist non-profit groups and gain useful experience in the charitable industry.

Rules and limits

Even though the UK Graduate Visa gives you a lot of rights, there are some important things you should know about its restrictions. For starters, you can’t keep the Graduate Visa for longer than two years. If you want to keep living and working in the UK after the visa ends, you will have to get a different type of visa. Most of the time, this means applying for a Skilled Worker Visa or another type of work visa, as long as you meet the standards.

One of the most important rules is that you can’t use public funds while you have a Graduate Visa. This means you can’t get any benefits from the UK government, like help with unemployment, help with housing, or other types of financial aid. During your stay, you must be able to pay for your own expenses.

Another thing you can’t do with the Graduate Visa is work as a professional athlete or teacher. If you want to work in professional sports, you would need to look into other visa choices that are made for that field.

Options After Getting a Graduate Visa

The Graduate Visa UK can’t be extended, so it’s important to think about the future. A lot of college graduates use this visa to get ready for other visas that could lead to long-term residency. For instance, if you find a job that fits the requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa, you can switch to that visa before your Graduate Visa runs out. The Skilled Worker Visa could lead to permanent residency because it lets you stay in the UK for up to five years. After that, you might be able to ask for leave to stay indefinitely.

Get tailored advice now and understand the strongest way forward for your UK immigration case.

Expiration of Graduate Visa UK

There is no way to settle down with a UK Graduate Visa, and it cannot be extended. This means that when this route’s leave to remain ends, either after 2 or 3 years, the person with the visa and any dependents in the UK will need to think about moving to a different route so they don’t overstay. To bring new dependents to the UK, you may be able to switch to a different visa, like the Skilled Worker method, which is also a way to settle down.

To get a visa through the Skilled Worker route, the main applicant must have a valid CoS from a licensed sponsor and a job offer that meets the minimum skill and salary standards for this route. Dependents must also meet the standards to be eligible as a partner or dependent child, which includes meeting a financial requirement.

Because a Graduate Visa only grants you a certain amount of time to work in the UK, you should expect your employer to check your right to work status again just before your licence expires. This means that steps must be taken to make sure that the employee can meet the standards for a suitable alternative work visa if they want to keep their job, and that a valid application is sent in before their Graduate Visa expires. If needed, the company must also make sure they have a licence to sponsor the person.

To use the Skilled Worker method as an example, the employer must have permission from the Home Office to hire a migrant worker through this route. In addition, they must be able to offer real work in a skilled job that meets the salary requirement.

How to Maximise Graduate Visa Recruitment: Tips for Employers

With the Graduate Visa, UK employers can easily hire talented foreign college graduates. The Graduate Visa was created as part of the UK’s immigration reforms after Brexit. It lets foreign students who have graduated from a recognised UK university stay and work in the UK for two years (or three years for doctoral graduates). This visa lets companies hire people with a wide range of skills, which helps their businesses grow and come up with new ideas.

Benefits of Hiring People with Graduate Visas

There are many benefits to hiring graduates who have a Graduate Visa. First, by finishing their studies in the UK, these people have already shown that they are smart and intelligent. They bring new ideas, foreign experience, and the ability to speak more than one language, which can help your business run better and reach more people around the world.

On top of that, Graduate Visa holders are free to work in whatever field they like. They are versatile and can be hired for any position, from entry-level to highly specialised. There aren’t as many restrictions on this type of visa, so companies can fill a wide range of positions.

Made the hiring process easier

When compared to other ways to immigrate, hiring people with a Graduate Visa is a simple process that requires less organisational work. Employers don’t have to sponsor the visa, so there’s no need for a sponsorship licence and all the costs and papers that come with it. Graduate Visa holders ask for their visas on their own, and once they get them, they can work for any company in the UK.

Getting long-term jobs with a Graduate Visa

Even though the Graduate Visa is only valid for two years (or three years for doctoral graduates), it’s a great way for companies to find and hire talented people from other countries. During this time, businesses can assess the graduates’ abilities and make well-informed choices on their future employment.

Since the Graduate Visa can’t be renewed, it’s important to plan ahead. Employers can help their Graduate Visa workers move on to other types of visas, like the Skilled Worker Visa. To get a Skilled Worker Visa, the job must meet certain skill and salary requirements, and the company must have a valid licence to sponsor the worker. This change lets employers keep good workers for longer, giving their staff continuity and stability.

Legal and Compliance Issues

When hiring people with a UK Graduate Visa, employers must make sure they follow all rules and regulations. For right-to-work checks, it is important to make sure that possible employees have the right visas and to keep accurate records. Employers should also know about any changes to immigration laws and rules that could affect the ability of international learners to find work.

Enhancing Inclusion and Diversity

Hiring people with a Graduate Visa makes the workplace more diverse and open to everyone. These recent college graduates bring cultural insights and points of view that can improve teamwork and promote creativity and new ideas. Employers can make their workforce more dynamic and flexible by embracing variety. This will make the workforce better able to handle global challenges and opportunities.
