What is a Spouse Visa UK Fees?

The fee to apply for a UKVI visa is £1,846 if you are outside of the UK and £1,048 if you are inside the UK. You pay this fee when you send in the application form online.

You will also have to pay the Immigration Health Surcharge fee, which is £1,872 if you apply from outside the UK and £1,560 if you apply from inside the UK. Moreover, you can pay this cost when you submit your application online. In the UK, you have to pay to use the NHS. Importantly, Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) fees are going to go up a lot in January 2024. Those applying from outside the UK will have to pay £3,105, and those applying from inside the UK will have to pay £2,587.50.

Are there any hidden costs associated with the spouse visa application?

Here are some hidden costs you have to pay when you apply for a UK spouse visa.

English Language Test

If you aren’t from a place where English is the main language, you will have to take an A1 level English test. This usually costs about £150, but since you have to take the test again if you fail, the price may be higher.

Tuberculosis Test

People who want to apply and live in certain countries must go to an approved TB centre and get a TB certificate. Applications sent from outside the UK are the only ones that need TB certificates. The cost of a TB test varies by country and clinic but is generally between £65 and £110.

Translation of Documents

The Home Office is likely to turn down your papers if they are not already in English or Welsh. They will need to be translated. This includes your marriage certificate, any possible divorce certificates, birth certificates, degree certificates, and death certificates (if any). Of course, this will cost money. On average, it costs £60 to translate a one-page paper.

You will need to use your “biometrics,” which are your picture and fingerprints, as part of the application process.

Applicants from outside the UK must go to a visa application centre run by either VFS or

TLS, based on where they are applying from. A lot of places where you can apply for a visa offer free visits. There is a base fee of about £80 at some places, and there is a fee of about £100 to £150 for “prime time” meetings at other places.

If you want to apply from inside the UK, you will need to go to a UKVCAS Sopra Steria-run visa application centre. In the UK, some organizations offer free appointments. The prices for meetings start at £85 for an “express appointment” and go up to £245 for a “premium lounge appointment.” You can expect to pay £139 for a regular visit.

Priority Visa Service Fees

You can pay extra for Priority Service to get an answer to your application faster. Priority Service costs £500 if you are applying from outside the UK. This means that you will get your decision within 30 working days of your appointment at the visa application office. Additionally, you buy Priority Service when you make an appointment at the visa application centre.

If you are applying from inside the UK, you can’t use Priority Service to get a result in 5 working days right now. Having said that, there are a small number of £1000 Super Priority Service slots available for decisions within 2 business days. This is something you buy when you send in your application form online in the UK.

When you make your appointment at the visa application office, you can buy other services that aren’t required. The “keep my passport” service is one of the most-used ones. The fee is different for each country and visa application centre, but it’s generally between £60 and £100. For applications made in the UK, you will retain your passport while we process your case.

Solicitors Fees

It may be a good idea to hire an immigration lawyer to help you with your application. You should expect to pay for help with applying for a visa. Moreover, the amount you pay will depend on how complicated your case is and how well-known the law company is.
